Colleen spent the entirety of her childhood in Saltillo, Texas. She attended Saltillo High School and graduated in 1998. She had her college education at Texas A&M-Commerce, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work. 

After getting married and giving birth to her three boys, she worked as a staff in a WIC (Women, Infants and Children) office before she ever began writing her first book.

Colleen Hoover started on her first book, “Slammed,” in November 2011, with no plans to publish it at first. The book was eventually self-published by Hoover in January 2012, and she released a sequel, “Point Of Retreat,” in the following month. 

Both books peaked at #8 and #18 respectively on the New York Best Seller list in August of 2012, before being picked up and republished by Simon and Schuster’s publishing division Atria Books in August 2012. 

Colleen published the third book in the series called “This Girl” in April 2013.
