John Alite Criminal life

Alite had personal ties with the Gambino crime family at a very young age. Having looked up to these people solely for the reason that they were feared, and he also wanted to be feared just as much, he mentioned in an interview that he didn’t know it at that time, but they were also looking at him as an “up and coming.” Alite soon after swiftly ascended through the ranks of the Gambino crime family, heading up drug and heroin trafficking, loansharking etc.

He then became the notorious John A. “Junior” Gotti’s enforcer.

In 1995, John A. Gotti’s assassination plot was hatched by Alite and his associate. Later that year, Alite was sentenced to three years in jail for illegally possessing a handgun in violation of his parole conditions.

Upon his release, Alite was sentenced to a further three months in prison for assisting corrupt prison guard Troy Kemmerer in transporting sperm donation kits into and out of Allenwood Federal Prison on behalf of inmate Antonino Parlavecchio, who was attempting to conceive with his wife Maria while incarcerated.

He continued his life in crime as he led a crew in Tampa, Florida, whose sole mission was to exhort valet businesses. While on the heels of federal racketeering charges against his Tampa-based gang, Alite moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he resided and worked in Copacabana in January 2004, according to the Brazilian Federal Police.

He had been there for about a year and a half before he was finally detained by the authorities. After serving two years in prison in Brazil, he was finally extradited to the United States and brought to Tampa to stand trial in 2006.

At least eight shootings and two attempted shootings and also armed home invasions and armed robberies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida were included in Alite’s guilty plea to racketeering charges in January 2008. These charges stemmed from Alite’s alleged involvement in the Gambino crew in Tampa, Florida.

Government witness

He consented to testify against Gambino family enforcer Charles Carneglia, who was convicted of four murders and is currently in prison for the rest of his life. Alite also testified for the government in the failed racketeering prosecution of John Gotti Jr.

An alleged drug trafficking operation in Florida and the murders of George Grosso, Louis DiBono, and Bruce John Gotterup have led to Gotti’s indictment for racketeering and murder conspiracy. According to Alite’s testimony, Gotti was responsible for at least eight murders and a slew of other crimes.

On December 1, 2009, during a cross-examination, Alite’s testimony was largely undercut. “Mistrial” was proclaimed by the judge, and Gotti was released after the 12 jurors failed to reach a unanimous conclusion on all of the counts against him. After the trial, the jurors declared that they didn’t believe Alite to be a trustworthy witness.

Alite was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison on April 26, 2011. He was released on a five-year closely-supervised release in January 2012; however, in October 2015, a letter was sent to the US Probation Office alleging that Alite had violated the terms of his supervised release in a New Jersey gun case, prompting an investigation that resulted in Alite being sent back to prison for three months.

There is nothing good there. We go to jail, family members leave us, we get divorced, we lose our kids, and we die. There’s no friendship. It’s all about the money.”

Gotti’s Rules (2015), Darkest Hour (2018), Prison Rules (2019), and Mafia International (2021) are four novels he co-wrote.

In July 2020, he starred in the Netflix docuseries Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia. He launched his own podcast, Mafia Truths with John Alite, on March 25, 2020.
